Running from Karis to Malmbacka with overnight stay in charcoal worker’s hut .

Starting from Karis train station where it is easy to get there by train or leave your car. We start at 10 am a leisurely run mainly along paths and forest roads but also country roads. Total max 17 km one way.

Overnight equipment and other heavy items are transported by car.

Once in Malmbacka, we start with a sauna to wash off after the run. This sauna has a very nice bath that many boast about

After the sauna, there will be charcoal worker’s bun with the usual accompaniments for lunch.

After lunch, you will take part in a guided tour about Kolar life, how people lived when they made their own coal. There is also time for the multi-faceted nature trail and other free time. It is now possible to get your hair cut or coloured with the organic hairdresser Älva (this should be booked in connection with the registration for the hike).

In the evening we enjoy a good two-course dinner made on the fire after which it will be nice to settle in for the night. The overnight stay in charcoal worker’s hut is quiet and peaceful.

In the morning we start with a hearty breakfast. We also chop some firewood before we run back at a leisurely pace roughly the same way towards Karis and the train station.

Before getting on the train or in the car, you can shower in the station area’s beautifully renovated sauna before travelling home.

After that we will take a leisurely run down to Raseborg Castle ruins through the forest. We will have a 1 hour guided tour of the castle.

On the way back, we pick and learn about edible wild plants, which we then make a good lunch of when we get back to malmbacka.

Own quiet time. It is also possible to book an appointment with the organic hairdresser Älva (should be booked in connection with the registration for the walk).

Bathing in the cosy sauna is possible again.

Wood chopping is also on the list.

In the evening, we will again enjoy a delicious two-course dinner, which you are welcome to help prepare by the fire.

And then a last nice long night in the charcoal worker’s hut.
